Academic Advisor Transfer Articulation

Position Summary: 

 

The Academic Advisor is a professional staff position reporting to the Coordinator of Student Advising.  Academic

Advisors provide current and potential students appropriate information about educational progress and services

at Belmont College. This position must understand and interpret all transfer and articulation agreements,

including ongoing relations with the articulating  entities.  This position is also responsible for advising transfer

students in the Associate of Arts and Associate of Science and other articulated programs.

 

Specific Responsibilities

 

1.)  Maintain an active student caseload as assigned and provide academic and transfer advising to potential, current, and returning students.

2.)   Provide admissions information to potential students.

3.)   Assist students listed as an AAG, ASG, or undecided majors with selecting a destination school and creating a clear pathway for transfer or employment.

4.)   Work with Program Chairs and their representatives in assisting with transcript evaluations, degree audits, advising questions, and scheduling course section offerings as needed.

5.)   Provide referral to community resources.

6.)   Provide general financial aid counseling and assist financial aid staff with degree audits to determine financial aid eligibility.

7.)   Schedule college recruiting visits to the campus.

8.)   Participate in the RMS Academic Alert System.

9.)   Other duties as assigned including but not limited to bulletin board maintenance, governance participation, and college sponsored activities.

 

Position Requirements:

 

1.)   An accredited Bachelor’s degree in counseling or related field; Master’s Degree preferred;

2.)   3 to 5 years of experience in higher education with a specialization in counseling, academic advising, student retention strategies, or related area.

3.)   Demonstrable customer service skills with technology and computer literacy.

4.)   Ohio licensure in counseling, social work, or related area is preferred.
