Welcome to #BeCommunity!

Community Education offers flexible and convenient non-credit courses designed to upgrade skills for personal development… or just for fun! All classes are currently virtual and offered through Zoom Video Conferencing.

Spring 2021 Schedule

January

Book Club
Wednesday, January 20 – 6:30pm
We will be discussing Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. No cost. Taught virtually through Zoom. Just call to register and we will send you the class link! The fist 10 people to register, receive the book for free!

 

Kids Valentine’s Day Craft – Fun for kids of all ages!
Saturday, January 30
Join us for a fun Valentine’s Day craft! Course fee is $25.00 and includes DIY kit that will be shipped to you upon registration. Registration closes on Friday, January 22.

February

Superbowl Appetizers – Score an extra point with your friends! Learn to create some delicious appetizers to enjoy while cheering for your favorite team!
Saturday, February 6 – time TBA.
Course fee is $15.00

 

Smoking Meats Virtual Workshop – Learn how to smoke cuts of meat during this Q&A instructional workshop.
Thursday, February 4 at 6:30pm
Course fee is $15.00

 

Virtual Introduction to Beekeeping – If you’re thinking about starting a backyard beehive or are just curious about what’s involved with keeping bees, then this is a great introductory class for you. The class is designed for absolute beginners so, no prerequisite knowledge is required.

Chunky Knit Blanket Virtual Workshop – No knitting skills necessary! Knit a blanket for your Valentine this year!
Saturday, February 13 at 10:00am
At this virtual workshop, you will learn step-by-step how to hand-knit with chunky yarn to make a hand knit throw. Course fee is $95 and includes all yarn and materials needed that will be shipped to you. When registering for the class be sure to specify preferred yarn color (light gray, dark gray or ivory) in comments. Registration closes on Friday, February 5.

 

Cricut Tutorials for Beginners – Not sure how to use your Cricut? Join us and learn to love it!
Saturday, February 20 at 10:00am
During this 1.5-hour class, we will be making a design and placing it on a t-shirt! Class will be 1 ½ hours. Course fee is $35.00 and includes t-shirt that will be shipped to you. When registering for the class be sure to specify shirt size preference in comments.

 

Book Club – We will be discussing The Road by Cormac McCarthy.
Wednesday, February 24 – 6:30pm
No cost. Taught virtually through Zoom. Just call to register and we will send you the class link!

March

Starting Vegetable Seeds at Home – If you want to learn how to start your own plants, but are struggling, this course will help!
Thursday, March 4 at 6:30pm
Course fee is $15.00

 

Book Club – We will be discussing The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood.
Wednesday, March 24 – 6:30pm
No cost. Taught virtually through Zoom. Just call to register and we will send you the class link!

Registration Procedures

To register fill out a Workforce Development and Community Education application or call 740.699.3868. You can also visit us in the Workforce Development & Community Education Department in Room #1110 at our Main Campus location.

 

Payment can be made by cash, check, or credit card. Class sizes are limited, so enroll early. We reserve the right to cancel a class if the minimum enrollment is not met. Failure to attend class does not guarantee withdrawal or eligibility for a refund. Responsibility for withdrawing remains with the student.
