State Aid Programs

Ohio War Orphans Scholarship

This scholarship is available to children of disabled or deceased war veterans, and to children of persons declared to be prisoners of war (POW) or missing in action (MIA) in Southeast Asia.  Applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 21, attending an Ohio public-assisted institution or eligible non-profit institution, and a resident of the state of Ohio for 12 consecutive months prior to application.  (If a parent does not meet the residence requirement, applicants must be an Ohio resident for 5 years prior to application.)  More information is available at the War Orphans page at the Ohio Board of Regents, or by contacting the Ohio Board of Regents, State Grants and Scholarships Department, P.O. Ohio Nurse Education Assistance Loan Program (NEALP)

Provides financial assistance to students enrolled in approved nurse education programs.  The program also encourages these students to remain in Ohio as they enter the nursing profession.  Application deadline is June 1 of each year.

Ohio National Guard

The Ohio National Guard will pay in-state institutional and general fees of its members who are enrolled at Ohio public institutions as full-time undergraduates.  Further information may be obtained by contacting the local Ohio National Guard Armory.  For more information visit the National Guard online.

Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Association (PHEAA)

This program is operated by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency.  Funds may be used to pay instructional fees only for Pennsylvania residents.  Student must be enrolled fulltime as an undergraduate and making appropriate progress toward an associate degree.
