Belmont Technical College Honors Professor Emeritus

Ms. Annette Butler receives her Professor Emeritus certificate and medallion from BTC Board of Trustees Chair, Mrs. Elizabeth Gates.Belmont Technical College (BTC) awarded the honorary Emeritus title to retired Professor of Mathematics, Ms. Annette Butler, on Thursday, October 27 during the College Board of Trustees meeting.

The Emeritus designation was established to award an honorary title for retired Belmont faculty and staff in recognition of commendable service to students and the College.  The designation distinguishes those individuals whose professional responsibilities have shown outstanding job performance, immeasurable dedication to students and the College, and exceptional service to the College community.

Ms. Butler began her employment at Belmont in September of 1988 as an adjunct mathematics faculty member.  She was hired as a full-time instructor in mathematics in September of 1989 and continued on before retiring in January of 2007 as Professor of Mathematics. 

“Ms. Butler earned the respect of her colleagues and created a place for herself within the workings of faculty and the math department at Belmont,” said Mrs. Elizabeth Gates, Chair of the BTC Board of Trustees.  “Always enthusiastic about helping students learn, she was a dedicated professor who was passionate about her work, her students, and the College. It is an honor to have had Ms. Butler as an integral part of Belmont, and the College community is pleased to recognize her for the influences that she has placed on past generations of students.”

Founded in 1971, Belmont Technical College is one of 23 community colleges in the University System of Ohio. The College offers more than 30 associate degrees and 11 certificate programs to serve the multiple needs of area citizens. Belmont offers a comprehensive array of credit and non-credit programming at the Main Campus in St. Clairsville. The College also has locations in Cadiz and Woodsfield, Ohio. BTC serves more than 2000 students throughout Monroe, Harrison, and Belmont Counties and beyond.
