Belmont College Foundation Board Hosts
Thomas R. Dowler Memorial Classic Golf Scramble
St. Clairsville, OH (May 24, 2012) – With 25 teams participating, the Belmont
College Foundation’s inaugural Thomas R. Dowler Memorial Classic Golf Scramble
was deemed a success.
The event took place at the Belmont Hills Country Club (BHCC) on May 21 with a shotgun
start at Noon; Mrs. Linda Dowler began the tournament with a ceremonial first drive.
The purpose of the event was to raise funds for the Belmont College Thomas R. Dowler
Fund which will benefit Belmont College students. This Fund was established for
the purpose of furthering the mission of Belmont College and may be used to support
the students, faculty, programs, and facilities of Belmont, wherever the need exists.
“Mr. Dowler, former President of the Board, played an integral part
in building the Belmont College Foundation, and his love of the College was evident
to all those who knew him,” said R.J. Konkoleski, Director of Development
& External Affairs. “We are excited to have this golf scramble, our premier
community event, in Mr. Dowler’s memory as the College’s way of continuing
his legacy. I would like to express my sincere thanks to all of our sponsors and
volunteers who assisted with the event.”
“I had the pleasure of serving with Tom on several boards; he was a good friend
and strong leader,” said Belmont College Foundation Board Member John Timko.
“I have a lot of great memories of our time together at Belmont Hills County
Club. This tournament is a great tribute to his legacy and I am proud to be
a part of it.”
