Thomas R. Dowler Memorial Classic Golf Scramble

St. Clairsville, OH (May 24, 2012) – With 25 teams participating, the Belmont College Foundation’s inaugural Thomas R. Dowler Memorial Classic Golf Scramble was deemed a success.

The event took place at the Belmont Hills Country Club (BHCC) on May 21 with a shotgun start at Noon; Mrs. Linda Dowler began the tournament with a ceremonial first drive.

The purpose of the event was to raise funds for the Belmont College Thomas R. Dowler Fund which will benefit Belmont College students. This Fund was established for the purpose of furthering the mission of Belmont College and may be used to support the students, faculty, programs, and facilities of Belmont, wherever the need exists.

“Mr. Dowler, former President of the Board,  played an integral part in building the Belmont College Foundation, and his love of the College was evident to all those who knew him,” said R.J. Konkoleski, Director of Development & External Affairs. “We are excited to have this golf scramble, our premier community event, in Mr. Dowler’s memory as the College’s way of continuing his legacy. I would like to express my sincere thanks to all of our sponsors and volunteers who assisted with the event.”

“I had the pleasure of serving with Tom on several boards; he was a good friend and strong leader,” said Belmont College Foundation Board Member John Timko. “I have a lot of great memories of our time together at Belmont Hills County Club.  This tournament is a great tribute to his legacy and I am proud to be a part of it.”

Major sponsors of the Thomas R. Dowler Memorial Classic Golf Scramble were as follows: Banker & White; Doan Ford; First Financial Partners; Harvey Goodman Realtor; PNC; Sam’s Club; St. Clairsville Sunrise Rotary; and Whiteside.
