Belmont College Students Receive American Association of University Women Beulah
St. Clairsville, OH (August 6, 2012) – Belmont College is pleased to announce that
students Rebecca Torsell from St. Clairsville, Ohio, formerly St. Marys, Ohio, and
Bryson Waller of Flushing, Ohio have been named recipients of the American Association
of University Women (AAUW) Beulah Boyd Scholarship. Rebecca is majoring in Building
Preservation/Restoration and Bryson is majoring in Associate Degree Nursing.
Rebecca and Bryson will be recognized on August 6 at a luncheon sponsored by the
Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley Inc.
The AAUW Beulah Boyd Scholarship was created at the bequest of Ms. Beulah Boyd,
who was a teacher at the former Wheeling High School and a member of the Wheeling
Branch of AAUW. Miss. Boyd left a portion of her estate to AAUW, and designed the
scholarship guidelines that have been followed since 1979.
AAUW is a nationwide network of more than 100,000 members and donors, 1,000 branches,
and 500 college/university institution partners. The Wheeling Branch is one of many
chapters across the country.
To apply for the scholarship, a student must have completed 30 college hours, be
a full-time student, have a GPA of minimum 2.2, and reside in Brooke, Ohio, or Marshall
Counties in West Virginia, or Belmont County, Ohio.
