Dual Enrollment/Post-Secondary Enrollment Options informational event to be held.

St. Clairsville, OH (February 29, 2012) — Belmont College will be holding an informational session about Dual Enrollment and Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) for all area high school students and their parents on Thursday, March 15 beginning at 6:00p.m. The session will be held at Belmont’s Main Campus in St. Clairsville.

The Dual Enrollment/PSEO program at Belmont is designed to provide a college experience for qualified high school students, grades 9 through 12.  Students can earn both college credit and high school graduation requirements at the same time.  This informational event will provide specifics about the Dual Enrollment/PSEO Program benefits, risks, requirements, and the enrollment process.

Lindsay Baugh, a former successful dual enrollment student from Flushing, Ohio is currently majoring in Psychology at Wheeling Jesuit University.

Lindsay feels that the Dual Enrollment/PSEO program at Belmont is a great way for high school students to jump-start their college education. “After completing the Dual Enrollment/PSEO program I was able to enter Wheeling Jesuit as a sophomore, which helped save on my tuition costs,” she said. “Because of the classes I took at Belmont, I was better prepared to successfully organize my assignments and give effective presentations in class.”

High school students can enroll in gateway general education requirement courses that can be applied to fulfill the Ohio Transfer Model and the Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees. The flexible scheduling at Belmont allows high school students the ability to enjoy high school activities that fit around college classes. Students enrolled in the Dual Enrollment/PSEO program can choose from a variety of diverse classes, learn from college professors, and expand their opportunities.

“The most important value of the Dual Enrollment/PSEO programs is that students can start their college education early,” stated Michael Sterling, Director of Recruitment. “Belmont’s quality education allows students the opportunity to embark on their journey to a career and life-long learning.”
