Belmont College Library Graduates Eligible for National Certification

Mrs. Carolyn Rose is an August 2012 graduate of Belmont College’s Library Paraprofessional program and currently runs the library at Martins Ferry’s Ayres Elementary School.

Belmont College has recently completed an agreement with the American Library Association-Allied Professional Association (ALA-APA) whereby graduates of the Library Paraprofessional Associate’s degree program are eligible to receive ALA’s national Library Support Staff Certification (LSSC) with no additional proof of competency.

Belmont College Firefighter Program Involved with Fire Safety Month

Curtis Kyer, Belmont College EMS Fire Safety Program Assistant (left) and Justin Borkoski, Captain at Morristown Volunteer Fire Department (right) explained the importance of fire safety during Fire Prevention Week for Union Local Elementary School’s Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and 1st grades to help spread fire safety awareness during Fire Prevention Month. Borkoski is currently upgrading his fire certification to Firefighter I at Belmont College.

October is National Fire Safety Month and firefighters from the firefighting program at Belmont College are going the extra mile to educate some local elementary students about the basics of fire safety and prevention.

Historic Capitol Theater Restoration Project

For many years the Capitol served as the home to Jamboree USA as well as to the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra, and various musical, dance, and theater groups. The Theater is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is the state of West Virginia’s largest theater.

Belmont College Provides More Opportunity for Training

312 Graduates Earn Degrees

312 students earn their degrees from Belmont Technical College.

Officials at Belmont Technical College conferred degrees upon 312 students as part of the College’s 2012 graduation ceremony in St. Clairsville, Ohio. Hundreds of parents, extended family, faculty and staff were present to congratulate the Class of 2012 during recent ceremonies held in Horizon Hall on the Belmont campus.

This will be the last time that the College will distribute diplomas with the Belmont Technical College name and logo, as the College will officially change its name to Belmont College on July 1.
