Belmont College Workforce Development and Community Education Department Announces New Online Course Offerings

ST. CLAIRSVILLE, OH – January 30, 2012 – The Workforce Development and Community Education Department at Belmont College is pleased to announce that they are now offering web-based courses. The online offerings will include home inspection courses, as well as IRS (Internal Revenue Service) tax preparation courses. These classes are completely web-based and can be taken at the student’s convenience, when and where they want. Registration for the spring quarter is now in process.

Belmont is offering the Home Inspection certificate program in partnership with Carson Dunlop and Associates. Students may take all 10 courses to earn a certificate in Home Inspection, or only complete specific courses of interest. This program incorporates the Standards of Practice of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI). Once certified, students may continue their education to offer inspections for a wide range of services, including but not limited to: commercial buildings, asbestos, water and/or air quality, and energy efficiency.

Additionally the College is also offering tax education courses. There has been increased interest for tax courses and seminars due in part to new IRS requirements for tax preparers. As a result, Belmont has partnered with The Income Tax School to offer IRS Tax Preparation Courses. The courses available range from three hour Continuing Professional Education seminars for EA’s, CPA’s, CEP’s, and un-enrolled tax preparers, to 30-60 hour tax preparation courses used by tax, accounting, and financial professionals to fill training needs. The Income Tax School, in collaboration with Belmont College will also offer an IRS competency test course to prepare tax professionals to meet new compliance standards.

The primary objective of the Workforce Development and Community Education Department at Belmont is to plan and promote full use of College resources to assist individual, business, industry, and community growth through training and education. All programs are intended to enrich, strengthen, and support those who are not served by the traditional instructional activities of the College.
