Belmont College Adjunct Professor Selected to Serve on Editorial Advisory Board

- Belmont College is pleased to announce that Adjunct Associate Professor Dr. Darby
Copeland has been appointed to the prestigious International Trauma Life Support
Core Editorial Advisory Board.
Dr. Copeland joins 11 other educators on the Editorial Advisory Board from Canada,
Europe, Mexico, and the United States.
The Editorial Board focuses on reviewing current literature and science relevant
to pre-hospital trauma education, providing expert advice on education and trauma
research and evaluating and implementing effective educational methodology to diverse
populations across the world.
Dr. Copeland has worked in emergency medical services for more than 20 years. He
has held positions as an EMT, Ground Paramedic, Flight Paramedic, Critical Care
Transport Nurse and Flight Nurse. He currently instructs the EMS and Firefighter
preparation programs at Belmont College.
“Pre-hospital medicine is rapidly changing thanks to the heightened emphasis on
making researched-based decisions,” said Dr. Copeland. I am honored and humbled
to be part of the National and International driving force of the change process,
which will ultimately increase cognitive competency and practice performance of
pre-hospital providers around the world.”
Dr. Copeland also served as a subject matter expert test item writer for the National
Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) this past summer and is presently
part of an international task force charged with rewriting the international trauma
life support instructor program. He is also currently mentoring a new trauma education
program in Oman, Southeast Asia.
