Transition Center Working to Assist Displaced Ormet Employees

St. Clairsville, OH (November 8, 2013) – Belmont College, Monroe
County CIC, Ohio Means Jobs, Workforce Investment Board Area #15, and Ohio Valley
Employment Resource (OVER) are pleased to announce the opening of the Ormet Transition
Center, located at the Black Walnut Center in Woodsfield, Ohio.
The purpose of the Transition center is to help the dislocated workers from Ormet
find new employment opportunities in the region.
“Dislocated workers need assistance with resume writing, job search skills, Internet
job searches, interview skills and some require basic computer skills training to
help them find their next job,” said Rob Guentter, Belmont College Director of Workforce
Development. “The Transition Center will promote all of these services plus serve
as a location for other area agencies to meet with and provide information and services
to these folks.”
Transition Center Coordinator, Della Misenhelder will be working directly with the
workers. She is also a recently displaced former Ormet worker. She said “This is
a tough time for the Ormet workers. We are here to help them move forward and find
The Ormet Transition Center at the Black Walnut Center is available to Ormet employees
every Wednesday and Friday from 8:30a.m. – 5:30p.m. In addition the USWA #5724 Union
Hall is open on Mondays and Wednesdays where similar services are being offered
to the workers.
