St. Clairsville, OH (November 8, 2013) – Belmont College, Monroe County CIC, Ohio Means Jobs, Workforce Investment Board Area #15, and Ohio Valley Employment Resource (OVER) are pleased to announce the opening of the Ormet Transition Center, located at the Black Walnut Center in Woodsfield, Ohio.

The purpose of the Transition center is to help the dislocated workers from Ormet find new employment opportunities in the region.

“Dislocated workers need assistance with resume writing, job search skills, Internet job searches, interview skills and some require basic computer skills training to help them find their next job,” said Rob Guentter, Belmont College Director of Workforce Development. “The Transition Center will promote all of these services plus serve as a location for other area agencies to meet with and provide information and services to these folks.”

Transition Center Coordinator, Della Misenhelder will be working directly with the workers. She is also a recently displaced former Ormet worker. She said “This is a tough time for the Ormet workers. We are here to help them move forward and find new employment.”

The Ormet Transition Center at the Black Walnut Center is available to Ormet employees every Wednesday and Friday from 8:30a.m. – 5:30p.m. In addition the USWA #5724 Union Hall is open on Mondays and Wednesdays where similar services are being offered to the workers.

A schedule of workshops and training for the Transition Center and the Union Hall is available at www.belmontcollege.edu/ormet.
