St. Clairsville, OH (May 20, 2016) – Officials with Hess Corporation and Belmont College announced today a continued partnership that will provide scholarship opportunities to local students.

The scholarship, known as “The Hess Corporation Scholarship,” will be awarded to incoming and current students enrolled full and/or part-time at Belmont College in an associate degree or certificate program. The scholarship will be awarded to multiple students. This is the third year that this scholarship has been awarded; since the 2013/14 academic year, the scholarship assisted 23 students in their academic pursuit.

“We at Hess Corporation feel a strong sense of responsibility to the communities where we operate,” said Robert Williams, Hess Operations Manager. “This investment in higher education is part of our commitment to make a positive impact where we do business and we hope these scholarships provide a foundation to helping to build rewarding careers that in turn will further strengthen the local economy.”

He went on to say, “We are proud to offer the Hess Corporation Scholarship with Belmont College as a way to make a difference to area students and support the education of future leaders.”

The scholarship will be awarded based on criteria developed with input from Hess Corporation as well as the Belmont College community.  One goal of the scholarship is to assist displaced workers returning to college in order to further their education and regain employment.

According to R.J. Konkoleski, Belmont College Vice President of Advancement and Marketing, “The Hess Corporation Scholarship is a model partnership in which the private sector provides funding to help men and women gain the technical skills necessary to do well in the emerging local economy. This on-going partnership has created a positive progression in which businesses such as Hess Corporation benefit, and students have access to new opportunities in the energy sector as well as other related industries.”

Hess Corporation is a leading global independent energy company engaged in the exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas. More information on Hess Corporation is available at http://www.hess.com.
