Belmont College and Hess Corporation to Host Shale Safety Institute

St. Clairsville, OH (September 21, 2017) – Belmont College is pleased to announce that they have partnered with Hess Corporation for a fourth straight year to host the Shale Safety Institute 2017.


Shale Safety Institute 2017 will be held at Belmont College’s Main Campus on Saturday, October 7 from 8:00am – 4:00pm. The event, designed to educate first responders about emergency situations, potential oilfield incidents, confined space rescue and more, is available at no cost for all emergency service personnel. Continuing education unit’s (CEU) for Fire, EMS, Fire and EMS Instructor will be issued on site the day of the event. Lunch will be provided for all participants.


“Training events, such as the Shale Safety Institute, are highly relevant to our local first responders,” said Ailsa Vogelsang, Belmont College EMS/Fire Safety Coordinator. It is important to have hands-on instruction to be familiar with the necessary equipment and guidelines in case of an emergency situation. Through the Shale Safety Institute, first responders will receive the highly relevant training and education they need to be able to respond to emergency situations, as well as oilfield related incidents and keep our communities safe.”


Hands-on training for multiple scenarios will be available, including: Extrication Tools, Limited Access Rescue, Mass Casualty Incidents, as well as an interactive simulation lab and a Heavy Lifting session which is designed to orient first responders to the benefit and use of heavy wreckers/rotators in rescue operations involving large vehicles and machinery.
