Belmont College Offers Expanded Phlebotomy Certificate Program
St. Clairsville, OH (August 8, 2017) – Belmont College is pleased to announce that they have partnered with local hospitals to enable the college to double enrollment in their Phlebotomy Certificate Program.
According to Dr. Rebecca Kurtz, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Learning, Belmont is working with Ohio Valley Medical Center (OVMC)/East Ohio Regional Hospital (EORH), as well as Wheeling Hospital and Barnesville Hospital to allow for larger enrollment in the Phlebotomy program. “All four hospitals are providing enough space to move 30 students through the program this fall,” she said.
The Phlebotomy program is a short-term certificate program which offers the basic knowledge needed to perform venipunctures and skin punctures, in order to obtain blood specimens from patients for the purpose of testing and analyses. Once the program is successfully completed, students will be eligible to sit for the Phlebotomy Certification exam. Graduates of the program are prepared to work in a hospital, clinic, private laboratory, or physician office.
The Phlebotomy Certificate is stackable with the Allied Health Administration Associate of Applied Science Degree at Belmont College.
