Regional Workforce Development Summit to Be Held
Roundtable discussion to be held between local officials and high school administrators to discuss job opportunities, obstacles and resources relating to the potential cracker plant in Belmont County.
St. Clairsville, OH (August 6, 2019) – Today, officials from Belmont College, Ohio Valley Construction Employers Council, Regional Economic Development Partnership, Warwood Tool, West Virginia Northern Community College (WVNCC), as well as Congressman David McKinley, WV 1st District and Congressman Bill Johnson, OH 6th District, announced that they have partnered to host a Regional Workforce Summit. The purpose of the summit will be to address and discuss workforce needs for upcoming job opportunities
According to Phillip Carl, Vice President at Warwood Tool, this workshop will be a roundtable/speaker based event covering job growth opportunities relating to the potential cracker plant in Belmont County.
“The primary audience for the summit will be local area principals and superintendents as the goal of the event is to highlight the need for skilled, trade labor in the coming years,” he said. “This Workforce Summit is a way to promote and communicate the need for industrial trades and offer real career paths for high school students.”
The Workforce Summit will be held at WVNCC in the B&O Building Auditorium on Thursday, August 8th from 1:00-3:00pm. The event is by invite only and is closed to the public.
Jointly hosting the Regional Workforce Summit are as follows: AEP; APEG (Appalachian Partnership for Economic Growth); Belmont College; H.E. Neumann; Regional Economic Development Partnership; Ohio Valley Construction Employers Council; Warwood Tool; WVNCC; and Joe Eddy, Retired President/CEO Eagle Manufacturing.
