Belmont College Names New President
St. Clairsville, OH (August 1, 2014) – It was announced today that Dr. Paul Gasparro will become the next President of Belmont College. Dr. Gasparro was unanimously selected by the Belmont College Board of Trustees.
His term will begin on August 14, 2014.
Dr. Gasparro most recently served at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio, as a District Vice President. He also served as the Eastern Campus President/College Vice President and as District Vice President for Special Initiatives.

Dr. Gasparro began his higher education career by serving as managing director of computer science, programming and networking in 1994 at Tyler Junior College. He held this position for eight years and gained his first insights into the community college segment of higher education. Since then, his career has included numerous leadership experiences in student and academic affairs across a variety of institutional settings.
Before taking the position at Cuyahoga Community College, Dr. Gasparro came from Seminole State College in Seminole, Oklahoma where he served as Vice President of Academic Affairs and Chief Academic Officer. Prior to arriving at Seminole State College, he held progressive positions of academic leadership at Chattahoochee Technical College as the Vice President of Academic Affairs, Chattanooga State Technical Community College as the Dean of Business and Computer Science, and Tyler Junior College.
Prior to his higher education career, Dr. Gasparro served from January 1971 to July 1994 in the United States Air Force in a variety of leadership positions before retiring from active duty as an officer to begin his community college career. He earned his bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering technology at Colorado Technical College (University) at Colorado Springs, Colorado; a master’s degree in computer resource management at Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri; and a doctorate degree in leadership and college administration from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Dr. Gasparro is also a graduate of the American Association of Community Colleges Future President’s Institute.

Dr. Gasparro is married to the former Mary Villalpando. They have three grown children; two daughters, Marty and Elizabeth, and a son, Paul. They also have two grandsons.
