St. Clairsville, OH (October 15, 2014) – Awarding students based on academic quality is a priority at Belmont College. Many scholarships are awarded each year based on a student’s ability to achieve success in the classroom.

Maddie Harrison, from St. Clairsville, Ohio is one such student, as she has been awarded the Belmont Savings Bank Scholarship.

Harrison is a second-year student pursuing a degree in accounting; her anticipated graduation date is June 2015. After graduation she would like to advance her career in banking and is considering continuing on to a four-year institution to receive a bachelor’s degree.

Harrison currently serves as president of the Belmont College branch of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges.

To be eligible for the Belmont Savings Bank Scholarship, applicants must be second-year students at Belmont College with at least 45 credit hours and be enrolled in a two-year business program. Students must also be currently working in financial services, or planning a career in this industry.

“Belmont College is grateful for our continued partnership with Belmont Savings Bank,” said R.J. Konkoleski, Belmont College Director of Development and External Affairs. “Scholarships such as the Belmont Savings Bank Scholarship help to remove the financial barrier facing many of our students and help prepare them for success in college and in their future careers.”
