Pharmacy Technician Program Offered

St. Clairsville, OH (January 8, 2015) – The Workforce Development and Community Education Department at Belmont College will be offering a 50-hour Pharmacy Technician program this spring. The program, which includes an 80-hour clinical externship, provides both technical and practical training, which will help to enable students to function as a competent entry-level pharmacy technician.


Students, who complete the program and earn the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certificate, will meet or exceed Pharmacy Technician employment requirements in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.


Classes will be offered beginning March 10 through April 28, 2015 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00-9:30pm. 


Course content includes: pharmacy medical terminology, the history of pharmacy, the pharmacy practice in multiple environments, pharmacy calculations and measurements, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and brand names.
