CDL Training - Truck Driving Classes

The Truck Driving Academy offers a comprehensive program that exceeds maximum state requirements for obtaining a CDL (Commercial Driver’s License). Highly qualified, experienced instructors will provide the most comprehensive, affordable training in the state. Students will receive practice time behind the wheel from state-certified instructors, licensed with the Ohio Division of Public Safety, and with a minimum of three years’ experience. Over-the-road training will be conducted on roads and highways within a 100-mile radius of Woodsfield, Ohio; New Martinsville, WV; Cadiz, Ohio; and St. Clairsville, Ohio.

Belmont College Truck Driving Academy (BCTDA) will provide 160 hours of theoretical and practical instruction, which includes 40 hours of classroom instruction, for the purpose of truck driving training. Over-the-road training will be conducted on roads and highways within a 100-mile radius of Woodsfield, OH and New Martinsville, WV.

The CDL course is a 4-week, Monday-Friday, full-time day course. A new class starts every Monday, from 7:00a.m. to 6:00p.m.

The total cost for the Commercial Driver's License Class A or B is $4,750.00.

  • The Class A license includes training on any combination vehicle such as a semi-tractor trailer (doubles, triples, tankers) and includes hazmat endorsements ($4,750.00).
  • The Class B vehicle license includes training on tankers, dump trucks, and box vans. The Class B license is the same price as the Class A license ($4,750.00).
  • A passenger endorsement is also available for an additional $1,000.00, which includes training on passenger vehicles that hold more than 15 people. Examples of passenger vehicles are Greyhound Buses, Tour Buses, U Hauls, and a city buses.
  • School bus endorsement training is offered at an additional fee of $1,000.00.
  • Note: If a student wishes to complete all of the above training options, the total training cost is $6,750.00.
  • 40-hour refresher training is also available for $1,000.00 if a person currently holds a current CDL license.

BEST DEAL! CDL + includes Class A CDL, SafeLand Certification Card (oil & gas industry safety standard), and AHA First Aid/CPR Card = $5,040.00 (CDL Class A $4,750 - SafeLand $225 – AHA First Aid/CPR - $65).

Fees included in the $4,750.00 price are a physical exam, drug screening, permit pack, truck rental, hazmat fingerprinting, CDL driver exam, and new CDL Commercial Driver’s License. In addition, the tractor and equipment are provided for practice. Note: if a student wishes to complete the Class A, Class B, and Passenger Endorsement CDL training, the training time will extend to a 5-week class. Weekend training is also available.

Withdrawing from class: In order to withdraw from class and receive a full refund, a student must notify the Workforce Development and Community Education Department and state that s/he will not be attending seven days prior to the start of class. Belmont College’s policy states that students are ultimately responsible of the cost of the class. In case of a third party pay, if a student does not attend class or notify the Department, the student will receive an invoice for the cost of the class, not the third party.

Notification of registration: A student is considered registered for a class upon receipt of their registration form and payment. Every student may consider his/herself registered and the class going as scheduled unless they receive notification from the Belmont Truck Driving Academy.

Refund Policy: 100% refund if college cancels, 100% refund if student withdraws seven days or more prior to the start of class, 50% refund if student withdraws two to six days prior to the start date of class, 0% if less than two days prior to the start date of class.
