State Tested Nursing Aide - STNA Information


IMPORTANT: The first 16 hours of class are mandatory.  If you miss any of the first 16 hours, for any reason, you will need to drop the class and register for the next available STNA class section.

Light Beige scrubs and white leather shoes or white tennis shoes must be purchased for this class and are not included in the price of tuition.  The beige scrubs are to be worn during the off-campus STNA Clinical Session and when taking the STNA State test.

NOTE: The STNA Instructor will schedule the State of Ohio STNA Tests and will arrange a date for you to take the test, approximately two weeks after the last day of class.

Requirements for STNA Registration

All items must be submitted to Belmont College, Workforce Development Department, 120 Fox-Shannon Place, St. Clairsville, OH 43950, before you can be entered in to the STNA program:

  1. Apply to the College
  2. Mail transcripts.  Students are required to submit all transcripts (high school or GED transcripts and any college transcripts) to the Records Office.
  3. Make arrangements to obtain both a Federal (FBI) and State (BCI) criminal background check.  Background checks must be received by the Workforce Development Department prior to being able to register for the Nurse Aide class.  Background check providers are listed below. Request that all background checks be sent directly to the attention of the Workforce Development Department, 120 Fox-Shannon Place, St. Clairsville, OH 43950. Note: online web-faced background checks cannot be verified, therefore, will not be accepted for this program; only fingerprint-based background checks are acceptable.
  4. Obtain a Two-Step TB test: available at local health departments or through a family physician.  Two-Step TB Test results must be received by the Workforce Development Department prior to being able to register for the Nurse Aide class.  The Belmont County Health Department will process a TB test for $15; their phone number is 740-695-1202.
  5. Speak with Financial Aid - The Federal Pell Grant may not cover this specific course.  Please talk to the Financial Aid Office regarding alternative funding methods, such as Federal student loans and the Trustees Scholarship, to determine if you are eligible. Note: if a student is taking only this course, he/she can either pay out-of-pocket or speak to the Business Office regarding setting up a payment plan; a payment plan must be arranged before the start of class.
